Veterinary dermatology
Itching, hair loss, redness and recurring skin infections can seriously affect an animal's quality of life. At the MultiVet clinic in Lutynia near Wrocław we effectively diagnose and treat skin conditions and allergies in dogs and cats.

What we treat

Food allergies, atopic dermatitis, flea-bite hypersensitivity.
Itching and hair loss

Bacterial and fungal infections, folliculitis.
Skin parasites
Mange and demodex mites, fleas and ticks, and their effects.
Ear disease
Outer ear infections, often linked with allergy.
Skin lumps and lesions
Assessment of skin changes with the use of cytology.
Accurate diagnostics first
Skin disease has many possible causes, so we always start with precise diagnostics. With tests performed on site we quickly identify the source of the problem and begin effective, tailored treatment.

Itching is a symptom, not a diagnosis
Scratching, licking, head shaking and recurring ear infections all point to the skin, but they say nothing about the cause. Parasites, bacterial and yeast overgrowth, environmental allergy, food allergy and hormonal disease can produce almost the same picture on a first look. The work of a dermatology consultation is to separate them in the right order rather than to treat the most likely one and hope.
We start with the examination and the history: when it began, whether it is seasonal, which parts of the body are affected, what has already been tried and what changed after each attempt. In-house tests such as skin scrapings and cytology follow, because parasites and secondary infection have to be excluded before anything is called an allergy.
Rural exposure changes the picture
Animals living outside the city meet different things. Ticks and fleas are a year-round consideration rather than a summer one, grass awns work their way between the toes in late summer, and contact with crop-protection products is a real possibility during the spraying season. Telling us where and how your animal spends its days is not small talk; it narrows the list.
Food elimination trials
A suspected food allergy is confirmed by a properly conducted elimination diet, not by a blood panel and not by switching brands until something seems to help. The trial runs for a set number of weeks on a single defined diet, with no treats and no flavoured supplements, followed by a controlled re-challenge. It requires discipline from the whole household, and we will explain exactly what that means before you start.
Chronic skin disease is usually managed rather than cured. The realistic goal is long periods of comfort with as little medication as possible, and a plan you can follow when a flare-up starts.
Practical details
Do not bathe the animal in a medicated shampoo in the days before the appointment; it can wash away exactly what we need to see and sample. If your animal is already on medication, bring the packaging or a photograph of it.
